Menthol Crystals have the strong characteristic menthol aroma. Menthol creates a cooling sensation on the skin when applied. A similar effect is experienced when inhaled. These powerful crystals are highly concentrated so a little goes a long way. Menthol has been widely used in traditional practices throughout history, particularly across Asia. The earliest recording of the use of menthol dates back to 23AD when a Roman scientist experimented with Mentha Arvensis. There is also evidence of menthol being used in several ancient pyramids in Egypt. Menthol was not introduced to the West until the late 19th century. Aromatherapy Dissolve the crystals in warm water and inhale the powerful, refreshing and cooling aroma. Lip Balm: Combine Coconut Oil #203, Beeswax #307 and Menthol Crystals for a super tingly and moisturising lip balm. Melt 1 tsp of Beeswax and 2 tsp of Coconut Oil and dissolve one or two crystals in the liquid. Pour into lip balm tins and leave to set. Massage: Make your own natural vapour rub by mixing menthol crystals with some Coconut Oil #203. Warm your coconut oil and stir in the crystals. Leave to set for a mentholated soothing rub. Foot Soak: There’s nothing like soaking your feet at the end of a long hard day. To make your own super simple, luxurious foot soak, add half a teaspoon of Menthol Crystals and 100g of Epsom Salts #402 to a bowl of warm water.
